How Orevant uses the Federal Register

Rules move. The Federal Register is where federal drinking water changes are published before they land in the Code of Federal Regulations. This page is the source note for how Orevant watches that feed.

What we watch

Federal Register notices that affect public water systems: proposed rules, final rules, corrections, and related EPA drinking water actions. State primacy programs can still be ahead or behind. We disclose that lag.

Related source: EPA SDWIS. Related regulation: 40 CFR Part 141.

When we pull it

Standing federal programs and rule text are reviewed against agency sources. Open opportunities come from a live Grants.gov feed on the funding side. Regulatory alerts on Orevant Pro are for systems that want the calendar after a rule moves.

What we will not claim

  • We do not invent an effective date. If the notice is unclear, the finding says Unable to Verify.
  • A Federal Register notice is not a violation on your system.
  • This is not legal advice. Confirm applicability with your primacy agency.
  • Orevant does not submit comments, records, or applications to agencies.

What a lookup is for

The free lookup is the EPA profile for your PWSID. The $199 Complete System Report is the cited snapshot. Pro is $87/month or $870/year if you want alerts after publication.

FAQ

Does a proposed rule already apply to my system?

Not by itself. Proposed is not final. We label the status.

Do you file comments for us?
