PWSID

What a PWSID is

A PWSID is the Public Water System Identification assigned to a U.S. public water system in the EPA registry. Every compliance answer starts there. It is not a nickname, a city name, or a utility billing account.

How it is written

A PWSID is the two-character state or primacy code plus the system number. Example: TX2270255. Write it PWSID, not PWS ID. The same system can appear under more than one name. The PWSID does not.

Where operators find it

State or EPA letterhead. Sanitary survey reports. Consumer Confidence Report. Operator certification paperwork. EPA SDWIS / state drinking water portal. If you do not have the number, search by system name or city on Find my system. Partial names work.

Why lookup starts here

Classification, population served, and source water sit on the PWSID record. Those three facts decide which federal and state requirements apply. A missed monitoring period is a violation even when the water is safe. The PWSID is how you find the schedule before it becomes a public notice. See how Orevant uses EPA SDWIS.

What Orevant does with it

The free lookup pulls the official EPA profile. The $199 Complete System Report is one document per system: what applies, what is due, violation history with evidence, and funding matches labeled likely eligible, confirm with the agency. Pro is $87/month or $870/year. Orevant is not legal advice and does not report your system to the state.

Can two systems share a PWSID?

No. One PWSID, one system record.

What if I operate more than one system?
