A PWSID is your Public Water System Identification number. It is the ID EPA and your state use for your system in the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS). Orevant writes PWSID, not “PWS ID.”

It usually starts with a two-letter state code followed by digits. The checkout field on this site uses the example format CA5610063. That is a format example, not a customer claim.

If you do not have it, search Orevant by system name or city. The free lookup does not require you to know the PWSID first.

This is compliance information, not legal advice. If the official record looks wrong, confirm the identifier with your state primacy agency.

How to find yours

  • Your last Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), if you are a community system
  • Your state primacy agency’s drinking-water lookup
  • EPA’s SDWIS / Envirofacts profile for the system
  • Orevant’s free search: name, city, or state, then confirm the profile

Name search can return more than one system. Confirm city, population served, and source water on the official EPA profile before you pay.

See exactly what your system is up against

Search by system name or PWSID and get your EPA violation history, open requirements, and upcoming deadlines in under a minute. Free, no account, no obligation.

How Orevant uses it

Enter a PWSID on checkout or search by name. The Complete System Report is $199 once per system. Every finding cites the regulation and a retrieval date. If the official record cannot confirm something, the finding says Unable to Verify — never a violation.

Federal SDWIS can trail state files by a quarter or more. The report says so. Orevant does not submit records, tasks, findings, or applications to regulators. You decide what to share and with whom.

FAQ

Is it “PWS ID” or PWSID?

Orevant writes PWSID. Same identifier.

Do I need a PWSID to run the free lookup?

No. Search by system name or city. Use the PWSID when two names look alike, or when you are ready to buy the $199 report for one system.

What if the PWSID I have does not match the name?

Stop. Confirm with your state primacy agency. Do not pay against a profile you cannot recognize. Orevant will not invent a second ID.

Does Orevant report our PWSID activity to the state?

No. Orevant does not submit records, tasks, findings, or applications to regulators.
